The other day was my husband's birthday. Recently we had a fancy meal, so we decided to eat casually at California Kitchen Pizza with family.
(There is a delicious Seafood pizza and I was glad to eat it which I don't often see good one in states.)
We took photos together to send a New Year's card to my family in Japan. Since next year is a Mouse year for Oriental Zodiac, we made a fist with both hands and put it on head and made it look like a mouse.
Normally around Christmas holidays, restaurants get crowded and waiting time get long, but it was better to go there early so it was not so crowded ( groups came in later though ), dinner was delicious and fun.
Christmas is more of a couples thing in Japan. In America, Christmas is spent with family eating and exchange presents.
Christmas Party
We gathered at my mother-in-law's house and had a dinner on Christmas Eve and Christmas. For Christmas Eve, She made Lobster and Shrimp , and for Christmas, prime rib. It was very delicious. After dinner, we spent time watching Christmas movies and playing card games.
Exchange Presents
We had various gift exchanges. I was especially happy with the chopped chopper and the Amazon Fire TV stick. Since we are all adults, we often exchange gifts for alcohol, sweets, snacks, and electronics. There are many things to choose, so it was difficult to make decision.
Last night, I had LINE talk with friends in Japan.
Most are married and have children.
Children were really grown while I haven't seen them.
Due to the time difference, Japanese daytime is late night here. Or vice versa.
It is difficult to get the timing so it was fun to talk.
I felt like I was back in high school.
The first time I read Haruki Murakami's book was in 2013, second year working adult.
I found collected 1-6 volumes of the 1Q84 paperback book at a secondhand bookstore ("Book mart") near an apartment in Ookayama.
I read books sometimes. Haruki Murakami's books had a sense and fun that I had never read before. I finished reading them all at once.
I started to read other Murakami works and I got into it.
Murakami RADIO
Murakami doesn't appear in the media so much, but he has been doing radio regularly since last year.
I've been listening happily every time since the first.

1.Django Girls Tutorial
A tutorial creating a miniblog. I didn't understand all at first, but first I moved my hand. Making blogs is easy to imagine and good for beginners.
2.Django Official tutorial
A tutorial creating a Voting site. More technical terms than Django Girls Tutorial. Again, I couldn't understand everything at once. But understanding gradually deepened. Just move your hand for now.
3.Create a blog site with Django
You can implement all necessary functions for your blog. I didn't use a convenient class-based view for studying, changed to function-based view.
4.Production environment implementation
Studying Git. Create GitHub account and Push・Pull to server. Make server environment.（Python, Django, Nginx, uWSGI）. Set domain.

To Los Angels（Birthday and Japanese Test）
The day after Thanksgiving Day, my husband and I went to Los Angels for my husband's friend's birthday party and Japanese Language Test.
On the way
It takes 400 miles 6 hours by car to Los Angels.
Los Angeles highway had many exits on the right and left, and traffic was heavy and disrupted.
If we missed the exit, we can't make a U-turn until the next exit, so I was nervous not to miss it.
My husband and my mobile phone have different navigation routes, which made me more confused.
Friend's birthday party
The birthday party is a surprise party at Italian restaurant.
The video message we took the other day was played.
About 30 family members and friends gathered. After the party, we went hotel bar and stayed until mid night.
I often can't keep up with English, so I usually listen conversations with my husband at dinner parties.
Japanese Language Test
The next day, my husband had Japanese Language Proficiency Test.
The venue was California State University, and there are many students studying Japanese.
Test is about 3 hours from 12:30 to 15:30 with break time.
I was waiting in the waiting room. My husband came back for a break on the way. Seemed he did well on test.
Asian food
After the test, we returned to the hotel.
There were many Asian restaurants near the hotel, and I was happy to have ramen (Hakata Ichikosha) and authentic Korean food.
There was also a 100 yen shop Daiso and I bought sweets.
Summary
・Driving car to Los Angels can be stressed and cost gasoline. This time we had a birthday party and a test, so we needed a car, but next time we will use airplane & Uber or Lyft.
・I was little tired long traveling and parties in a row, but it was a great week to meet many people. I ate too much so I have to diet.
